Let's Play Some Old Honk

This recent painting marked a departure from my usual work, allowing me to explore a different energy and visual language on the canvas. I focused less on abstraction and more on presence—using bold color, heavy texture, and expressive brushwork to capture a moment that feels lived-in and resonant. The figure emerges through layers of movement and restraint, where the intensity of the background contrasts with a grounded, almost meditative stillness. Every mark was made intuitively, guided by rhythm, memory, and emotion rather than structure, resulting in a piece that feels raw, immediate, and deeply human.
